What is Physio-Pilates?
A Physio-Pilates Program integrates the diagnostic and injury rehabilitation of physiotherapy with the benefits of movement and exercise from Pilates. Stephani has designed this program to teach the basic principles of Pilates and its use in a rehabilitative manner to improve pain, function and performance. Exercises will create a stable base focusing on stability, body awareness, and muscle strength with the intention to support your rehabilitation and prevent future injuries.
STOTT Pilates combines a modern approach to rehabilitation adding the fundamentals of Pilates including exercise, breathing, control and focus. This program will increase strength, body awareness, control of peripheral movement and core stability. Throughout this program, participants will target the development of postural stability muscles with the goal of increasing optimal function and sport performance.
This program is designed to work alongside manual therapy and other rehabilitation methods provided by massage therapists, chiropractors, or physiotherapists.
How do I know if Physio-Pilates is right for me?
Physio-Pilates is for individuals who are experiencing low back or pelvic discomfort, chronic pain, recovering from an injury or simply looking to improve your overall fitness level. If you’re not sure if this program is right for you or if you have any questions, Stephani is available to discuss the program with you.
How do I join?
The Physio-Pilates program is available on a one-to-one basis only. Individualized rehab and exercise programs are created for injury management and future injury prevention in mind. Your physiotherapist will modify and tailor every detail of of your program to optimize your injury recovery and strengthening. Personalized modifications to your program are determined by pain, injury, and progression and will incorporate other rehabilitation methods and techniques when necessary. These sessions will incorporate manual and soft tissue therapies and supporting exercise strategies as needed. Not everyone progresses at the same speed and one to one sessions are designed to adjust to your needs.
One on One sessions can be scheduled for 30 minutes, 45 minutes, and 60 minutes. All costs can be billed to your extended health benefit plan.
