What Is Active Release Technique?
Active Release Technique ® (ART®)
Active Release is a specific soft tissue therapy used by Chiropractors, Massage Therapists and Physiotherapists to break up fibrous adhesions, also known as scar tissue between muscles, nerves and other connective tissue. This re-establishes proper motion between muscles, tendons, ligaments, blood vessels, fascia and nerves. These adhesions can be the result of a sudden injury, a repetitive or chronic injury, or in some cases poor posture.
You can recognize adhesion problems by a loss of function, characterized by a decrease in range of motion, weakness, stiffness, soreness or other symptoms brought on by the ageingprocess.
ART® is very effective on its own, or can be combined with other forms of treatment like acupuncture and joint mobilization or manipulation.
Active Release Technique ® can help with:
- Repetitive Strain Disorders
- Back pain and Sciatica
- Headaches and Neck Pain
- Rotator Cuff Problems and Frozen Shoulder
- Tennis Elbow, Golfer’s Elbow and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Iliotibial Band Syndrome and Runner’s Knee
- Achilles Tendonitis, Shin Splints and Plantar Fasciitis
For best results, it is important to follow the doctor’s recommendations about rehabilitation exercises to improve strength and flexibility.
